Soft Tissue Grafting

For gums that have recessed significantly and have exposed your tooth root, Dr. Ginsberg may suggest soft tissue grafting to repair the exposure, eliminate sensitivity, and prevent more severe problems including tooth loss. Soft tissue grafting is a surgical process in which Dr. Ginsberg carefully takes a sampling of tissue from the palate (roof of the mouth), synthetic material, or viable gum tissue from an area near the affected region and attaches the graft tissue to the gum line, covering and protecting the exposed root. As the gum heals, the grafted tissue will seamlessly bond to natural tissue creating stronger, healthier gums!
